Tris-Ann Richards is a Woman Candidate Master (WCM) and the first chess player from Saint Lucia to earn a conditional Woman FIDE Master (WFM) title. With a FIDE rating of 1701, she is a FIDE Arbiter, Licensed Chess Instructor, and currently serves as Chair of the FIDE Commission for Women’s Chess.

A passionate advocate for the growth of chess, Tris-Ann has dedicated her career to expanding opportunities for women and girls in the game, and is also the President of the Saint Lucia Chess Federation. She arrives at the Polar Chess Expedition at the highest point of her chess career so far, representing Saint Lucia and North America at the very end of the world.
